When most of us stayed at home during the lockdown in August, health workers were among the frontline workers working tirelessly everyday, carrying out thousands of tests, caring for patients and ensuring health services were accessible to the people even during lockdown.
Health workers are also those most at risk, needing to exert extra care during this pandemic to not get infected themselves, and transmit it to their loved ones. It has meant staying away from home and family for months on end, and spending long tiring hours wearing PPE at work.
As the lockdown eases gradually, health workers will have to continue carrying out their important duty. They have to continue making great sacrifices and putting themselves at risk.
The rest of us can thank them for their services, and try to ease their burden by being careful in this important period, by practising social distancing and good hyegine, especially hand washing, and wearing masks.
Our September Calendar is dedicated to this group of heroes- our health workers in the frontlines.
