The calendar for July is dedicated to our frontliners, especially our armed forces and De-Suups, who have stepped forward to serve the nation during the pandemic, and have set aside their comfort to work in even the most difficult parts of the country. The entire nation appreciates and admires their service and dedication.

Our Calendar for June is dedicated to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, in commemoration of His Majesty’s Coronation Day which is on June 2.

The Coronation ceremony of His Majesty King Jigme Singye Wangchuck was held on June 2, 1974, when His Majesty was just 18 years old. His Majesty’s Golden Reign has given us all the blessings we enjoy as Bhutanese today- peace, security, and well-being.

The calendar for the month of May features an artwork of His Majesty The King and His Holiness the Je Khenpo, in honour of His Holiness’ 25th Anniversary as the 70th Je Khenpo of Bhutan.

His Holiness became Je Khenpo at the age of 41, and received the མངའ་བདག་དཔལ་གྱི་འཁོར་ལོ (Order of the Druk Gyalpo), from His Majesty The King in 2018, in recognition of services to the nation.

We are honoured to feature in our April Calendar, a Kupar of Their Majesties with Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel and Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck, from earlier this month at the Tashichhodzong.

Rays of sunlight strike the Paro valley~ a picture of hope for the days ahead, as we continue to work together to stay safe and happy during the ongoing pandemic.

Our February calendar features this wonderful illustration by Ugyen Dorji- echoing our feelings of gratitude and love for our beloved King and Queen.

We look forward to the New Year as one single family under the benevolent protection of our Druk Gyalpo. We are resilient in our endeavours today, deriving strength and courage from our beloved King and Queen, and filled with optimism for the future.

Among the most important events that we celebrate together as Bhutanese is National Day- 17th December, marking the momentous occasion in the year 1907, when Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck was unanimously crowned King of Bhutan. From that day on, Bhutan entered a new era of unprecedented peace and prosperity, guided by the incomparable leadership of our successive Kings.

When most of us stayed at home during the lockdown in August, health workers were among the frontline workers working tirelessly everyday, carrying out thousands of tests, caring for patients and ensuring health services were accessible to the people even during lockdown.

It has been 5 months since the first COVID-19 case was detected in Bhutan- the pandemic continues to disrupt lives and economies globally. Different countries areaddressing the challenge in their own ways, with varying degrees of success.
